OVERTURE WEEKEND
Design for outdoor structure – Pendopo, a pavilion that holds traditional Indonesian musical instrument Gamelan. The stage was one of the main features of the Overture Festival, a unique Southbank Centre celebration, which welcomed back The Royal Festival Hall after two years of restoration.
The core design of the pavilion was primarily based around an idea of a bird nest. Birds and bird songs are closely associated with this particular instrument and play a vital role in the atmosphere of the traditional Pendopo.
The roof the was constructed out of triangular sails of different sizes stretched between the trees and some other existing elements of the Southbank environment. This solution allowed to create light, simple and yet dynamic structure that did not require building of any additional support elements. The colour scheme reflected the new identity of the Southbank Centre.
Дизайн Пендопо – конструкции, содержащей традиционный индонезийский инструмент Гамалан. Данный павильон был одним из основных элементов Фестиваля Увертюра, уникального уикенда Southbank Centre, который ознаменовал открытие The Royal Festival Hall после двух лет реставрации.
Центральная концепция дизайна основана на воссоздании эстетики птичьего гнезда. Пение птиц является одним из основных атрибутов атмосферы традиционного павильона Пендопо. Крыша была выполнена из треугольных парусов различного размера, растянутых между деревьями и другими уже существующими элементами южной набережной Темзы. Такое решение позволило создать максимально легкую, простую и при этом динамичную конструкцию, не требующую построения дополнительных поддерживающих элементов.
Цветовая гамма отразила новый графический стиль бренда Southbank Centre.
